About Us
Short Introduction of ReSAC - A Centre of Excellence
The establishment of the Remote Sensing Applications Center (ReSAC) was supported by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations (UN) in 1998 (project TCP/BUL/8922) and at the end of 2005 is registered as a non-profit organization.
The general goal of ReSAC is to facilitate local, national and international authorities, as well as private enterprises, to introduce RS&GIS products into agricultural and environmental management, land cover/land use, soil and forest inventory, water resources, environmental hazards, disaster management and urban planning.
Since 2005, ReSAC is an Observer Member of European Association of Remote Sensing Companies – EARSC.
ReSAC is R&D unit of the Agency for Sustainable Development and Eurointegration (ASDE). ASDE is a non-governmental organization, which accumulates governmental, municipal and public support in order to foster the sustainable development on local level in line with the goals of AGENDA 21.
ASDE has signed a Collaboration Agreement with DG JRC in 2007 in the area of spatial data infrastructure, earth observation etc.
ReSAC maintains a qualified specialists competent in a wide range of RS/GIS applications, who benefited of numerous tuitions and on-job trainings organised by FAO/UN, GTOS/FAO, ESRIN/ESA, ESTEC/ESA, DG JRC/EC, DLR, GEOSYS, Voice-Insight, ISTAR/INFOTERRA, AED-SICAD/SIEMENS, Map Media.

ReSAC/ASDE is a distributor of the main worldwide satellite image providers, such as EURIMAGE, European Space Imaging, SPOT Image, and EUROMAP, offering images with spatial resolution from 0.6m to 1000m. We provide satellite imageries acquired by SPOT, FORMOSAT, KOMPSAT, Ikonos, QuickBird, IRS, ASTER, Landsat, ERS, ENVISAT, RADARSAT, and NOAA satellites.
ReSAC elaborates techniques for data integration of different sources, including in-situ measurements. We offer image processing services, which include the whole set of procedures required to bring the imageries to the end-user in a ready-to-use state, e.g. image ordering, orthorectification, enhancement, classification, 3D models etc.
For the years since its establishment, ReSAC has fulfilled and participated in numerous projects both at local and international scales. Programs such as GMES, INSPIRE, GAEC, GEOSS are of high priority to ReSAC.
The most important ReSAC projects in the area of LC/LU, CwRS, the establishment of LPIS, DOM, FTC, Voice Technology development are funded by FAO/UN, DG JRC, FP6/EC, FP7/EC and the MAFS/Bulgaria.
ReSAC is very active in FP7/GMES, participating in Geoland 2, SAFER and Cosmos projects.
